Hello everyone, I hope we have had a pleasent day. Today I will be writing an article on another common dream, taking a test. We face many tests through the day, but what does it mean when we dream about them?
The meaning of this dream will depend on what exactly happens during the sitting of the test.
If you are worried and stresed while taking the test, you will usually find that this is quite a direct translation. Often things we worry about during the day can be manifested into our dreams in this form. Taking a test is often an indication that someone is judging, or "examining" you in real life. A test in a dream might mean we are trying to prove ourself to someone who we feel we dosen't believe in our ability. This could be your boss at work, the teacher at school or even your own parents. Try to think about who you are trying to impress, because this might be the reason for this dream.
Sometimes in this dream, you may find that your equipment is faulty or you can't read the paper. Perhaps your pencil will snap, your pen runs out of ink, or the paper is completely illegible. These are usually signs, that you feel unprepared for something that is about to happen in your life. Do you have a dinner date with someone coming up? Are you going to run a marathon? Are you trying out for your football team? Or maybe you might just have a test coming up? These are all examples of things we need preperation for. If we are constantly thinking about these things while awake, then it's no wonder that our dream uses them to fuel our thoughts at night.
If you find yourself flying through the test easily, this is an indication of great confidence. It means you are not worried about what's ahead because you feel totally ready for anything. You will feel that you have proved your ability to those around you and your not scared to share your answers with others because you have confidence in them.
So as usual, I hope this has given somne insight into this particular dream. Again, do feel free to email me about any dreams you've had recently and I'll be happy to help out. Until next time.

Question Time: Why do dreams change scene rapidly?
Hello everyone, I hope we are all doing well. Today I will be attempting to answer my first e-mailed question. This was an interesting question that I received from Mary. Mary asked:
"What does it mean when you are dreaming and the scene changes rapidly? Is this common and why does it happen?"
Well first of all I would like to say that this is very common. The reason I believe that our surroundings change so rapidly in dreams, is that while we are dreaming we do not hold a concious memory. Think about in waking life how quickly our brain processes thoughts. Hundreds of thoughts can whizz through our minds very briefly and then we forget about them. This is essentially what the brain is doing while we are asleep. Hundreds of ideas, thoughts and experiences from the day are rushing through our minds and being displayed in the dream. If they are not focused on, or if they are not a main part of the dream then they are quickly substituted with a new idea (scene or surrounding). This is why a scene in a dream may change, if we look away from it. The loss of focus on the scene, means it is quickly forgotten and replaced with whatever thought our brain is currently using.
Other complications that might cause scenes to change in dreams are what I call memory dominoes. When we have one memory in a dream, it tends to lead on to another one, (this is how a story is created in the dream). For example, if you had a memory of the circus you might see it, but when you look back it's changed to a dentist because later that day you had a tooth getting pulled. ( I know that's a crude example but just to give you an idea).
(On a side note, looking at a scene twice is a technique often used by lucid dreamers. Such as looking at the time, looking away, and looking back at the time to see it change. If you want to know more about lucid dreaming check out my page on the blog).
Ok, so here comes an end to my incessive rambling. Hopefully my insight into this good question will be a benefitial read to everyone. Please do leave comments and emails if you have any questions or any good information you can tell me regarding this question by Mary. Until next time.

Dream Interpreter: Dentists or pub?
Hi guys, this will be my second dream explanation for the blog. It's another dream that my girlfriend Terri had last night and she usually has weird ones, so this should be fun.
The dream started with Terri queuing in a restraunt with her parents. Whilst queuing she spots her university lecturer having a meal. When she saw him, she tried to leave the restraunt (she dosen't much like this man). Unfortunately in the dream, her lecturer notices her and starts walking Terri's way. He begins to argue with her about university things, whilst she is still trying to escape from the conversation.
I think this scene in the dream clearly links to Terri's troubles in real life. Generally, a restraunt is a place we go to socialise and relax. In the dream, Terri's lecturer represents worries and issues that we have to deal with in real life. So this means she is worrying about not being able to relax or socialise because of constantly having things to deal with (issues).
Next in the dream, she finds herself working in her old job (Domino's pizza). I think this simply means that she is thinking about what things would be like, if she was still doing this job in real life. On arrival for shift, her manager tells her she is early and still has time to visit the dentists to get her teeth "fixed". The manager then drives her to the dentist.
On arrival to the "Dentists" it turns out to be a pub. Terri finds that alot of people she has known in the past are at the bar, having a good time. Whilst all of these people have alcohol, Terri decides to stick to soft drinks. In the dream, she told me that she was worrying that her fellow employees might get fired for being drunk at work.
In this section of the dream, I believe that the dentists represents a serious, formal place. The pub represents a fun, happy place to socialise and is basically the opposite of the dentists. I think this transition represents taking things that are formal less seriously, so that Terri can relax and enjoy life more. This theme is backed up by the fact that Terri chooses to only drink non-alcoholic beverages. Other people enjoy themselves, whilst she chooses to keep things formal and more serious. Terri worrying about her friends getting in trouble, simply indicates her worry in real life when she should be trying to relax more.
After this section Terri wakes up, (and begins to tell me about this dream).
So hopefully this was another interesting read for you guys. I do put alot of thought into my explanations and I hope they make some sense for the readers. If you have any dreams you would like me to write a dream interpreter on, don't be scared to send me an email. Keep tuned.

What does it mean?: Being chased in my dream
Hi guys, today I'll be writing a short article about what it means to be chased in your dream. This again, is a very common dream that many people will have and might not be sure what it means.
The usual scenario for this dream is when someone is trying to escape from something that is unseen or unknown. This might be a faceless figure, or even a complete silhouette. In this case, it usually means in real life you may be trying to escape from something that you can't face. A fear, secret, or thought that has been bothering you while awake, is being manifested into your dreams. Think about what is happening in your real life. Is there something you are scared of? Do you need to own up to something you did? Usually this dream won't leave your nights until you sort this out in real life.
Another explanation for this dream, is that you may be trying to forget something that has happened in your past. This may have been in your childhood, or a thought that has stuck with you for your life. The chaser in the dream represents this suppressed memory that is following you. The best thing to do, is to face your memory and accept it for being in the past. This way you can leave it behind, and stop it from being a constant worry in your future.
Occasionally this dream can mean quite the opposite of the above.Sometimes this dream may mean that you are avoiding something that would benefit your life. This could be a secret talent, a new friend or even romance. Remember when something is bothering you, it's not always something bad. Think if this might connect to what's happening in your real life, and maybe you will find that you've been overlooking something that's trying to get your attention.
Ok, so I know this was a short article but I hope it gave some in sight into what being chased in your dreams might mean. Email me any dreams you would like to me explain and I will be happy to post them. Until next time.
Dream Interpreter: Tar in a bathtub
Hello everyone, today I'm writing my first dream interpreter. This is a dream my girlfriend Terri had a couple of nights ago and I thought it would be interesting to write an article on it.
The first thing that happened in the dream was that Terri had found a new job and was moving town. In the new town, people were asking "who is Terri?". She told me that she felt nervous during this part of the dream.
This seems like a fairly insignificant piece of the larger dream, but this looks like a manifestation of a worry she has been having in real life. Looking at it literally, it seems as if she is worried that if she finds a new job or town, that she is going to have to make new friends which can be a challenge. This part seems to be an indication of the task of trying to fit in somewhere new.
Next, she finds herself running a bath. Whilst in the bath washing her hair, she suddenly finds that soap is stinging her eyes. During this time, an anonymous person puts just their arm through the door, while pouring tar into the bathtub.
Now, a lot of people would assume this is just bizarre and makes no real sense. When we think about what taking a bath in the dream could represent it makes more sense. When we are taking a bath, we are in quite a vulnerable position. We are naked and open to threat if someone was to come in. It would seem that the person pouring the tar, represents someone taking advantage of her while she is vulnerable. (This vulnerability is backed up by the soap blinding her eyes). So in total, this part of the dream seems to represent a worry of someone backstabbing or betraying her while she is vulnerable.
After this stage, Terri found herself back at her old house with her mum. There is a knock at the door, which Terri answers to find it is a charity worker. The charity worker tells her that if she gives him one of her old toys, he will exchange it for a bag full of "goodies".
At this point I believe the old toy part is significant. I think that an old toy will represent our past memories of being a child. The bag full of goodies, represents brand new things, (technology, music, computers) that are new to us and make us forget about our simple past. The dream is pointing towards the fact that we give up our old memories to be replaced with new things going on in our life. Terri swaps her toy for the goodie bag, showing that we are quite happy to do this. After this Terri woke up.
So, that's all for my first dream interpreter. I really hope you enjoyed reading through this and that it was easy to follow. If you would like me to write an in-depth explanation of one of your dreams just send me an email.

What does it mean?: Can't find the bathroom in my dream
Hello again. Today I'm writing about a pretty strange dream. Dreaming about looking for a bathroom, but either not being able to find it or when you do it's out of order. Many people are confused by the meaning of this dream, hopefully this article well help explain why you might be having this dream.
Unlike a lot of dreams, how you feel in this one probably isn't very apparent. If you can't find the bathroom you probably aren't going to be happy for example. Usually people will feel frustrated or confused in a dream like this one.
So how do we know what this dream means then? Instead, this is a dream we should look at more literally to find out. If we think about what a bathroom could symbolise it becomes more clear. Usually a bathroom is a place people go for privacy and this is why the bathroom becomes manifested into the dream. If you are struggling to find the bathroom, it probably means you are frustrated at having a lack of privacy in your real life. You should consider if you are feeling constantly unable to be alone when you want to in life, this dream could be a manifestation of those feelings.
Alternatively, this dream can sometimes mean you are feeling unorganised. In real life we consider the bathroom an easy place to find. So if your dreaming about not even knowing where it is, it generally means you are not keeping things in easy to find places. If you are someone who is constantly losing things, or has a cluttered room, you might consider this being the meaning behind this dream.
If this is a recurring dream for you, (you have this dream repeatedly) then it may have a more literal meaning. If you are someone who suffers from bowel problems in real life, this is often re-lived in dreams. Try to remember that sometimes dreams have hidden meanings, but also they can just be re-occurrences of what we do while we are awake.
Occasionally, you may just find that this is your brain trying to wake you up. If you need the toilet while sleeping, the brian often creates scenarios in your dreams to bring it to your attention. By not having a toilet in the dream, your brain is trying to tell you to wake up and search for one.
Ok, so hopefully this article has given people some clues as to why they might be having this dream. It's a hard one to determine the specific meaning behind, because it often depends on what is going on in someones life. If you are still unsure about why you think you are having this dream, or would like to ask any questions, then just send me an email. Remember that if there are any other dreams you are unsure about, don't be afraid to send me an email regarding these too.
Lucid Dreams
Lucid dreams is one of those terms that many people have heard of, but not many people know what it means. Lucid dreaming is when the dreamer is aware that they are in dream while having it. This usually means they are able to alter their dreams, by conciously thinking of things they would like to happen. This article wil explore lucid dreaming, how to lucid dream and other related features.
When someone has a "lucid dream", they must become aware that the world around them is not real while still being in the dream. When someone becomes aware that they are in a dream, they can change their surrounding world through thought. Many people have been known to be able to fly, jump long distances, have telekentic powers, teleport as well as many other amazing powers. Basically while in a lucid dream, your imagination is the limit.
Now, I'm sure you're probably wondering how you would have a lucid dream so you can try this out for yourself. The most commonly used method to get into the state of lucidity, is to use "reality checks" whilst in a dream. Reality checks, are when someone will check how real their surroundings are. If you were to do a reality check in a dream, you will be able to tell that your surroundings are in fact not real, and will become aware of the fact that you are dreaming. Commonly used reality checks are: Your hands (usually you will have a strange number of fingers in a dream), the time (clocks will not retain the same time in dreams), other peoples responses (In a dream almost everyone will tell you, "you are not dreaming" if you ask them).
So how can we make ourserlves remember to use a reality check whilst in a dream though?
Simply by repeatedly performing reality checks in real life. If you constantly ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?" whilst checking your hands in real life, then your far more likely to do it again sub conciously in your dream. The more you train yourself to do reality checks while awake, the higher chance you will give yourself of becoming lucid while dreaming.
Once you do become lucid in a dream then the next step is to simply relax and try out some things. You can first attempt to run faster than usual or change something slightly. As you beecome more comfortable having lucid dreams, you can try to fly, teleport or anything else you can think of. Many people suggest keeping a dream journal, to note how far you are getting and what you remember of your dreams. As soon as you wake up in the morning, try to remember what happened in your dream and note it down. This is a very good way to improve your chances of becoming lucid in a dream.
So hopefully once agian this article has helped people learn more about lucid dreaming. Send me an email if you would like me to write an explanation of your own dreams.
